Islamabad: Pakistan women captain Fatima Sana has been slapped with a 10% of match fee fine for violation of ICC Code of Conduct in Women’s Asian Cup against India.
According to the International Cricket Council, Sana was guilty of a Level 1 infraction under Article 2.5 of the Code of Conduct, which pertains to “language, actions or gestures that could provoke an opposing batter after dismissal”.
The incident took place during the second over of India’s innings. The English spinner dismissed opener Shafali Verma and Sana gestured towards the pavilion.
In addition to the fine, the ICC issued one demerit to Sana’s record. It’s her second violation in the code in 24 months, giving her two demerit points.
It is worth noting that Sana had already picked up one demerit point in Pakistan’s first ever T20 International against Ireland in Dublin on August 6, 2025.
The Pakistan captain was found guilty of the offence and accepted the punishment suggested by match referee Supriya Rani Das. Therefore, no hearing was necessary.
