Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan Ineligible for Domestic Cricket

Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan

In the latest addition to the already existing saga, Pakistan’s batsman Imam ul Haq and Mohammad Rizwan will not be able to participate in the President’s Trophy that begins in a few days as they have been declared ineligible by the sources.

Sui Southern Gas Company was to be represented by Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq was appointed captain of the Oil and Gas team. Both players failed to submit their fitness-test results, which are mandatory as per their departmental teams, said sources cited by Aaj News.

The President’s Trophy Grade-I is set to kick off on 12th September as the inaugural red-ball tournament in Pakistan’s domestic season 2026-27. Eight teams have been announced for the competition by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The development has coincided with both players being under the spotlight in the context of the Pakistan Test team’s alleged dressing-room leaks on its recent tour of England.

Imam and Rizwan reported at the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. in Lahore Thursday for questioning. They stayed in the office of the agency for several hours and asked for more time to give written responses. They also have their cell phones seized for examination.

Investigators are looking at financial issues and bank transactions related to the England tour, Aaj News reported. The agency has made no formal allegations against either player.

The two cricketers were among the six who were sent home from England last time when Pakistan lost the first two Tests of the series. The Pakistan Cricket Board has separately announced that it is looking into reports relating to player discipline and behaviour as part of the internal monitoring.

I follow cricket closely, but I don't miss any sport. Match analysis and honest takes, that's it.
