Corrections Policy

Last Updated: September 11, 2026

At Muskan.pk, we strive to report news in an accurate, fair and transparent manner. Although every effort is made to ensure that articles are fully edited and fact verified, mistakes sometimes do happen. If they do, it is our responsibility to recognize, respond to and rectify them as quickly and transparently as we can.

This document explains how we will review, use, and categorize corrections, clarifications, and retractions in our reporting.

1. The essence of the transparency principles.

We never covertly change or “stealth edit” substantive factual errors in published articles. If the meaning, context or integrity of a story changes due to an error of fact, the live text is modified and a clear, permanent editorial correction notice is added.

1. Prompt Remediation: After an error has been reported and confirmed by the editorial team, our team puts all efforts in making the changes promptly so that the spread of erroneous information is reduced.

We make it very clear what the information that was wrong was, what the information that we have been able to verify is, and we will date the correction.

2. The degree of Editorial Updates

Updates are divided into four levels of severity and impact of the update:

A. Substantive Corrections

A substantive correction is an incorrect fact, name, figure, quote or detail that misleads the reader’s understanding of the story.

Article text is corrected with correct information.

There is a prominent correction note at the top or bottom of the article.

Example Format:

Earlier this report said it was a Thursday event. It took place Wednesday. The article has been modified to reflect this.

B. Clarifications

A clarification is issued when the article is factually correct but the wording or the way it is worded and/or the absence of context led to an ambiguous or false impression.

Ambiguities in the wording are removed.

An editor’s note is inserted clarifying.

Example Format:

Update (September 11, 2026): This article was updated to make it clear that it is a policy change that only concerns public institutions, not private enterprises.

C. Minor & Typographical Fixes

Typographical errors, grammatical, spelling, and punctuation changes that do not affect the factual content, names, or context of the report are made in the live article without an editorial notice.

D. Formal Retractions

A complete retraction is our harshest editorial action and is limited to cases where we believe the articles are fundamentally not up to our journalistic standards, such as articles based entirely on fraudulent documentation, unverified hoaxes, extreme plagiarism, or a systematic failure of facts, which cannot be corrected by an update.

Once retracted an article’s original headline is visible and marked with the term [RETRACTED].

Original body text that is incorrect is crossed out.

A detailed Editor’s Note is made available on the original URL; it outlines why the article was withdrawn and results of our editorial process.

3. Correction across syndication and social channels

If an error occurs in an article that was published and distributed through social media, RSS feeds or aggregators of news:

Social media: When a wrong fact, headline or graphic is shared on our official social media pages, we follow up with another post or delete the incorrect post and replace it with the correct information, noting the correction.

Syndicated Content: In the event that an error is found in a syndicated piece, a corrected version along with a correction notice is sent immediately to our syndication and distribution partners.

4. How Users Can Add a Correction.

We value and appreciate constructive comments from our readers, sources, and the subjects covered. For any factual error, or any article on Muskan.pk that needs to be clarified, please follow the below procedure to inform our editorial desk:

5. Review and Resolution Process

2. Investigation: The reporting journalist and a senior desk editor check the claim with primary sources, recordings, interview notes and original source documents.

3. Determination:

  • If the report is found to be accurate, the request is closed and an explanatory e-mail is sent to the reader as appropriate.
  • If the error can be confirmed, the article is edited quickly as per the above mentioned guidelines.

4. Archiving: All formal corrections are stored internally to assist our team in spotting patterns in reporting and recurring errors.
